Neurodivergent Processing Group

The focus of this group will be sharing and supporting one another in experiences of ableism, shame, misunderstanding, masking, exhaustion, and grief. This group is intended for neurodivergent adults but everyone is welcome

Every aspect of you, even the parts that have been wounded, is embraced here. I believe the human spirit is resilient, no matter the trauma, hardships, or challenges faced. In our work together, I hope to create a connection with you that puts us on equal footing – prioritizing mutual trust, compassion, safety, and collaboration. You know yourself best, and I am committed to learning and understanding who you are in order to facilitate your journey of self-discovery. My role is to listen to your stories, share reflections, and explore the underlying meanings and emotions of what comes up.

My approach is relational and intersectional, rooted in culturally responsive and anti-oppressive frameworks that centre my clients’ unique experiences. I integrate techniques stemming from Humanistic-Existential Therapy, Attachment-based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy - tailored to the needs and desired therapeutic outcomes of my clients.

It is an honour to witness the sense of freedom and new-found agency that occurs when a person is given the space to better understand themselves. I believe that within every person lies the answers - healing is realigning oneself back to ways of knowing and relating that already exist within us.

My intention is to foster a holistic therapy experience that attends to the mind, body and spirit. Healing through therapy has been world expanding for myself and my loved ones, and I hope to facilitate that process in a meaningful way for others.

If you are struggling with depression or anxiety, problems in your relationships, substance use, or maybe a general feeling of being stuck and not really knowing why - finding a therapist is a great place to start.

Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to speak openly about your feelings, fears, and hopes for your future. Why is this valuable? Exploring your emotional landscape provides a wealth of inner wisdom and insight into the obstacles that may be getting in the way of your wellbeing. This process can move you towards greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, providing a roadmap for healing and change. I would be honoured to accompany you on this path.

My approach is strength-based, person-centred, and relational. I draw inspiration from mindfulness, positive psychology, cognitive and dialectical behaviour therapy, and internal family systems. That being said, therapy is not a one size fits all model, and I will tailor my approach to meet your specific needs and goals at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Charlotte holds a Master’s degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, where she conducted research on mindfulness in educational settings. Our relationships with food and our bodies are complicated. Most often, these relationships are tied to other parts of our lives and the challenges we face, such as anxiety, depression, perfectionism, substance use, and life transitions, to name a few. Living in a culture that glorifies certain bodies and eating/exercising habits doesn’t make it easier. Chronic dieting, restricting, feeling preoccupied with food choices, binge eating, purging, and over-exercising are logical ways to cope with difficult or oppressive situations and experiences. However, these behaviours and thoughts can cause a lot of physical and mental distress.

Non-judgmentally, I will help you identify which eating and exercise behaviours are working for you and which ones are no longer helpful so that together, we can identify attainable goals and work towards creating meaningful change. My intention is to support you in developing a more positive, neutral, or accepting relationship with your body and food.

I help my clients draw on pre-existing strengths, while integrating tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to cope with difficult situations and emotions. It can seem as if therapy focuses primarily on the individual. However, as I work with my clients to create meaningful change, I acknowledge the impact of systemic oppression (like poverty, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, sizeism, and ableism) on mental and physical health. My practice is informed by Harm Reduction and Health at Every Size® frameworks. According to these frameworks, a person’s health is not determined by their weight, and every individual, regardless of health status, is deserving of dignity, respect, and support.

It’s important that you find a therapist who’s right for you. I encourage you to book a free 20-minute consultation with me as an opportunity to ask me questions and to assess if my style will be a good fit for you.

I am the owner and founder of Work in Progress as well as a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Counsellor. I primarily work with individuals experiencing feelings of disconnection, anxiety, and self-criticism. I am not currently accepting new clients but you can reach out to be added to my waitlist. I also provide clinical supervision and consultations.

Do you ever feel like you can’t live up to your own standards or those of others? As though no matter how hard you try you remain stuck or unfulfilled? In a society that promotes speed, wealth, and unrealistic standards (of beauty, relationships, even self-care!) it can be increasingly difficult to find a space in which we feel heard and validated. When life prevents you from seeing the best version of yourself, I will see it for you, bringing your strengths to the forefront of our work together.

My approach is anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and client-centred. I enjoy using Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, EMDR, Cognitive and Mindfulness based practices to help you explore and confront difficult emotions. You can expect challenging questions, with the goal of guiding you toward considering new ways of acting and reacting to the chaotic world around you.

My therapeutic skills lie in working with individuals with a variety of presenting difficulties from trauma to life indecision. I draw on the belief that the stories we hear and tell about ourselves can perpetuate harmful narratives that are hard to let go of. I work to dismantle the systems of oppression that marginalize particular bodies.

I understand the idea of starting therapy can be intimidating and overwhelming. It takes courage to take that leap and begin facing your thoughts and feelings. As your therapist I make sure you feel understood, heard and validated. I provide individualized, creative and collaborative care for children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing a variety of mental health concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues.

We live in a society where we can be viewed so harshly that it is no wonder we feel the need to hold back or hide our feelings. Sometimes even our family and friends can let us down, hurt us or make us feel unsafe to be ourselves. When the world feels like it is against you, therapy can take some of the pressure off and help guide you towards the answers you already have within.

My practice is trauma-informed and supported through compassion and kindness. I have a toolbox of various approaches to best fit each individual’s needs. I enjoy using Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive-Behavioural, Narrative, and Mindfulness techniques. I will encourage you to become curious about how your own thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence your everyday life and provide the space needed to make meaningful changes that support your future.

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Registered Nurse interested in supporting you to find and make the changes you want in your life. Some common concerns I may work with relate to mood, anxiety, addictions, life-transitions (parenting, career changes, aging), and body-image. Some people aren’t exactly sure what their concerns are and want help figuring them out: I’m here for that too.

I draw from a mix of therapeutic theories and techniques (e.g. cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment, person-centered, psychodynamic), to help you get curious about yourself and find an approach that works best for you. This is why I aim to really get to know you. I will meet you without judgment (really!), and rather with openness, interest, and respect for the complex person you already are. I aim to build connection, trust, and safety between us to support challenging, fulfilling, self-work. I also understand that people process things differently, and welcome bringing movement, sound, aroma, and/or creative expression to sessions.

I believe that everyone deserves to pursue a satisfying life. I believe that therapy should be accessible and inclusive, and should meet you where you are at. I believe that social justice, harm-reduction, and trauma-informed approaches are absolutely foundational to good mental healthcare.

My name is Nicky (she/they) and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I am currently accepting new clients. My goal as a therapist is to provide a relationship with each client that gives space to explore the impact of external stories and your internal worlds.

I work mostly with neurodivergent individuals – people who self-identify as Autistic, ADHD, gifted, highly sensitive etc. – with interest in navigating the harmful impact of dominant social norms.

I view all clients as experts of their own experience and during sessions this is evident in that I will not be providing any analysis or contributions outside of what you bring to share. My role will be to listen to your stories and emotions, ask clarifying questions, reflect back to you what I am hearing, and ask questions about meaning.

My approaches are borrowed from Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness and Religion, with some influence from CBT and Art Therapy.

What draws me to working with other ND people is that I am constantly exploring my own ND traits finding overlap in my previously labelled “giftedness” with my understanding of ADHD and Autism. I have found working with ND clients alleviates some of the double-empathy burden.

I also work with neurotypical people. As an example, beyond navigating the NT world, I am also navigating the parenting world and this common experience allows for strong connections of understanding to be made between me and clients who are interested in discussing this aspect of themselves. For some, this may specifically extend to parenting their inner child.

Slowing down is a prerequisite to the conscious act of looking inwards. It is easy to seek distractions or take part in unhealthy habits when we are feeling unwell. It certainly isn’t as easy to seek help, to ask ourselves important questions, and demonstrate self-love. The way to self-love can have different meanings for each of us, depending on our life experiences. Perhaps it means self-compassion, forgiveness, relaxation, stress management, setting boundaries, or developing assertiveness. Putting the brakes on our busy lives and dedicating time to put ourselves first, can help. I welcome clients at any stage in this process.

My personal approach to counselling is client-centered and anti-oppressive. I view each client as an expert in their own lives, integrating their goals into the counselling process. I implement techniques from a number of modalities; including cognitive-behavioural, narrative, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-meditation based therapies.

A strong therapeutic alliance is important when seeking a therapist as it encourages self-disclosure and self-exploration. It is my privilege to hear your unique story, and I will strive to hear you with curiosity, warmth and openness. If you are interested in meeting I offer free 20 min consultations to see if we are a good fit.

I understand how intimidating it can be to begin and commit to therapy, and that is why my first goal is to provide a safe and validating environment to share your experiences. Often we reach out for help with the goal of eliminating discomfort, however, I have found that the most significant gains in therapy come from facilitating a more compassionate relationship with ourselves. Being curious about our internal world, and how it influences our behaviour and wellbeing, can be the first step in feeling empowered and meeting needs which may have been neglected for some time.

Together, we will also work to better understand how the systems you have been exposed to throughout your life, from family dynamics to social norms, impact your self-talk, behaviour, and relationships. We will challenge internalised beliefs which no longer serve you, so that your authentic self and inner wisdom can shine through and be a compass for your human experience.

Self-growth can be a challenging process with tiny victories along the way. As your therapist I will aim to guide you through it by shining a light on your personal values in order to bring more meaning when challenges arise. If you would like to explore whether we’d be a good fit, I encourage you to book a free, 20 minute consultation with me.

I want to start off by saying that starting psychotherapy can be overwhelming and intimidating. Because of this, I first seek to spend time getting to know clients and building a respectful and collaborative therapeutic relationship. It is my belief that each of us possesses the innate qualities for healing, and working together we can find the ones that work best for you. Working from a strengths-based lens, I seek to center each individual’s unique qualities and capacity for change to support them in finding individualized solutions to their problems.

I work with adults, young adults, and adolescents dealing with a range of difficulties including addictions, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, difficult life changes, self-esteem and issues related to stress. I work from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed framework and draw from a person-centered approach.

I also attempt to keep in mind the intersecting identities and experiences of marginalization that affect many folks, as well as the impact this can have on day-to-day life. Addressing the hurt caused by systemic inequalities is important to me in the work I do. If this sounds like a fit, feel free to reach out for a free consultation.

Whatever your life’s challenges may be, the right therapist can help you steer through them.

Maybe you’re anxious about your career, relationship, health, education, or the state of the world. Maybe you’re overwhelmed by how busy you are or how much others rely on you, leaving no time or capacity to pursue your own goals and desires. Or maybe you’re feeling depressed, lonely, uninspired, powerless, or generally unsatisfied with life.

At times, I have experienced each of these obstacles and more. It wasn’t until I found the right therapist that I realized I could have a dedicated co-navigator by my side to chart my way forward. And now, I would love the opportunity to play that role in your life.

My philosophy is to provide client-centred therapy that affirms neurodiverse and 2SLGBTQ+ identities, opposes racism and oppression, and promotes social justice. I work hard to always be nonjudgmental, supportive, and empathetic. Drawing upon my lived experience, I apply an integrative approach to therapy using a wide variety of evidence-based tools that are bespoke to each client. My work largely centres on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), a powerful method for compassionately and mindfully accepting what we cannot change, while also committing to creating a more enriching and values-aligned life.

If this sparks your interest, let’s have a short, no-obligation consultation session. I’d love the chance to meet you and see if I can help you navigate a path through today’s challenges and towards your best tomorrow. __ Nick holds a JD (law degree), a BA, and an MA in Counselling Psychology. He is an active member of the Association of Contextual Behavioural Science, the global community of ACT practitioners, researchers, and academics. There are not many places that are dedicated to learning and understanding yourself and how truly unique your experiences are, I think therapy is one of those places. It is also a place where you can surprise yourself and learn a different truth about who you are. I want to be able to help anyone else who might be feeling that difficulty and give that opportunity for you to share your story, supporting your journey of self-examination and self-understanding.

As a Queer, gay, South Asian man, I know first hand how difficult it can be to find safety in mental health care and to trust that there are safe and understanding places to share your story. I strive to create a space of safety and trust where everyone is welcome to share openly and express themselves authentically.

If you choose to work with me, we will collaboratively search for and work toward your goals in a space free from judgement, shame, guilt, or negativity. I am here to support you in being your most authentic self. Utilizing my lived experiences, I provide an approach that is based in client centered, narrative-based, and solution-focused therapies. I work with affirming identities in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC communities, those who are underprivileged in society, and those who want to share their story with someone. I also believe in the power of mindful based practices, working to accept whatever truth we are living and working within those truths to find comfort and fulfilment. I am happy to explore the possibilities with anyone who believes this might be a fit for them.

It can take courage to reach out for help and open up to another person. My role as a therapist is to meet you where you are, honouring your lived experience and values. With compassion and non-judgment, we will explore your story and begin your journey of self-discovery and healing in a safe and supportive space.

In individual therapy, I firmly believe in fostering a strength-based, empowerment-centered, and identity-affirming change process for clients that actualizes self-reflection, liberation, and resilience. As a first-generation immigrant, I am in tune with the joys and challenges that come with integrating cultures, as well as recognize the role that stigma and intersectionality plays in our mental health and well-being. Our collaboration within the therapeutic relationship will guide your self-exploration, highlight your internal resources, and foster your capacity for coping.

In child and teen therapy, I encourage young people’s strengths and exploration of experiences and emotions through creative and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions (expressive arts, drama, stories, visuals, narrative journaling, games). With my specialized professional background counselling children and youth, I know first hand how invaluable these developmental years are. Young people may need support gaining confidence with emerging social and life skills; may be coping with transitions; or may require validation and tools to process through tough emotions and situations. No matter what a child is struggling with, I aim to create a safe space and a positive relational experience through warmth, patience, and humour.

My approach is grounded in anti-oppressive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed frameworks that centers you as the expert of your own experiences. I draw interventions from various therapeutic modalities, including humanistic, narrative, experiential and solution-focused techniques. Wherever you are in your journey, I would be honoured to walk alongside you. I welcome you to reach out and see if we may be a good fit in working together.

My personal experiences and my work with people in similar situations t my own influenced my decision to pursue a career in counselling. As an immigrant, I am aware of the complexities and challenges that a new country can present. I am mindful of the impact of acculturation on our beliefs, worldviews, and sense of self across generations. Painful experiences encountered in childhood or adulthood can significantly influence how we view ourselves or relate with others. This varies from feeling like we are stuck in the past, struggling with regulating our emotions, experiencing negative thinking patterns and beliefs about ourselves, people pleasing, and struggling to create or maintain boundaries in relationships. I work with adults who experience these situations because of trauma, anxiety, self-esteem/self-worth concerns, stress, domestic abuse/relational abuse, emotional disturbance, racial trauma, and depression.

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and collaborative. I am passionate about supporting clients on their journey of healing, growth, and change. I create a safe and non-judgemental atmosphere while collaborating with clients to build resiliency, uncover strengths, develop coping strategies, and establish hope.

I draw from various therapeutic approaches to create a plan that is tailored for clients. Therapeutic approaches that I draw from include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment-Focused Therapy, and Brainspotting.

When we feel stuck in the same patterns, things may feel too difficult to work through on our own. Therapy can provide a new perspective and help to bring joy, connection, and peace to our lives and our relationships.

In couples/relationship therapy I help partners navigate relationship conflict so they feel more connected. Our conversations will provide you with opportunities to identify and shift negative and painful cycles, explore and understand the impact of the past on your current relationship, and find new ways to communicate with your partner. My hope is to provide you with a space where you feel comfortable and supported in exploring new and meaningful ways of communicating and strengthening your relationship.

In individual therapy I support adults in exploring the ways in which they view themselves and how this may be impacting their connection with others. Our conversations will provide you with opportunities to identify what you might want to be different in your life and your relationships, and what may be getting in the way. My hope is to provide you with a safe and supportive space where you can gain clarity around your concerns and begin to shift your story of yourself and how you experience the world.

My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and LGBTQ2SIA+ affirming. I strive to provide open, empathic and non-judgemental support and I welcome couples and individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities. I have specialized training in couples and relationships therapy, and draw from elements of emotionally focused therapy, solutions focused therapy, narrative therapy, and attachment-based therapy. An integrated approach to therapy allows me to meet you where you are at and tailor our work together to best fit your needs.

It is important that I am the right fit for you and your needs. I invite you to schedule a free 15 minute consultation so that we have a chance to connect prior to booking your first appointment.

Jessica specializes in seeing young adults (20s & 30s) and teens interested in increasing self-awareness, developing coping skills, breaking problematic behavioural patterns and issues relating to relationships, mood, anxiety & stress.

For many, adolescence and young adulthood are fundamental years associated with self-exploration, identity formation, increased independence and investment in relationships and the future. These years can be vibrant, exciting, full of possibility AND at the exact same time can be uniquely challenging. More often than not, life will throw us an unexpected curve ball - sometimes several all at once.

I work with individuals to navigate these ages and stages, including all that comes with it. We will work together to develop the skills that you need to better understand and manage difficult thoughts and emotions in order to making meaningful changes in the areas that are most important to you. The relationships that I have been fortunate to form in therapeutic settings are ones that I value and hold in high-esteem. My practice emphasizes validation, authenticity and curiosity, along with a little bit of laughter.

As a social worker, I have received additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Motivational Interviewing. We will work together in order to determine what treatment model or blend is the best fit for you.

Seeking and starting psychotherapy can be intimidating, especially if you’re part of a community that has been historically over-diagnosed or if you are worried about being judged. I am familiar with this experience and understand the reservations that come with trusting a professional with personal stories, thoughts, and emotions.

I believe that the bedrock of effective psychotherapy is rooted in the relationship we cultivate. Getting to know the real you is important to me! As such, I pay close attention to your needs and goals, your values, your identity, and your comfort level. Life problems and intense emotions are valid and worthy of compassionate exploration.

I am drawn to positive approaches that help you safely express yourself and your problems, and that lay the groundwork for sustainable and meaningful change. We will focus on what works, re-work or rearticulate what doesn’t, and weave together new ways of thinking and being that are in line with your authentic self. I specialize in LGBTQ2SIA+ identity formation and coming out, self-love and confidence, relationship therapy for folks in non-monogamous or polyamourous relationships, life transitions, work and school stress, motivation, and negative experiences with religion.

My practice is always grounded in anti-oppression, is queer affirming, and welcomes everyone.

If you’re interested in discussing your needs, please email intake@workinprogressto.ca. _______ Zac holds a BA with a minor in Religious Studies and MA in Counselling Psychology.

If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you’re curious about your feelings and thoughts, and maybe even about the human condition more generally. If that’s true, we have that curiosity in common. It’s what brought me to this career, and what continues to motivate me to help people understand more about who they are, how they want to be in the world, and how they can connect in important ways with others around them.

I believe that sadness, fear and anger are normal emotions that are part of living a full life. At the same time, I also know from personal experience that sometimes negativity and self-judgement can feel like too much to bear, and that asking for help is the best way to gain perspective and find strength. I use a mix of therapeutic theories and methods (person-centered, narrative, psychodynamic, solution-focussed, mindfulness) to help people see themselves more clearly, so that they can feel some relief, both on their own and through cultivating supportive relationships.

I bring warmth, focus and a non-judgemental approach to each of my sessions, and I see the world through a lens of social justice. I help people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, self-doubt and/or those who are having difficulties with life transitions, ageing, work and career choices, and relationships. I have experience navigating mental health issues in the academic world, and a special interest in couples and family issues.

During our time together, I will invite you to find growth, change, meaning, and connection. Rather than utilising formulaic or rigid approaches, I use invitation, collaboration, and creativity to meet you where you are at and facilitate connection, change, and meaning-making. Together, we can strategize, experiment, and address the challenges you’re facing.

The identities, labels, and stories we use can have both liberatory and unintended consequences. Whether you’re interested in unraveling these to deepen your relationships with others, or you’d like to connect more deeply with your own sense of self, I can support you. Using trauma-informed practices, empathy, and humour, I hold space for your experiences of distress, joy, and everything in between and can support you to find an approach to help you meet your goals and live your preferred life.

I use trauma-informed, harm reduction, anti-oppressive, and politicized practices that hold space for your experiences of distress, joy, and everything in between. This means we can work together toward your goals and preferences in ways that account for both individual and systemic factors.

I provide a safe and supportive environment free from judgment and make an authentic and sincere connection with my clients based on mutual trust. I believe that people already have the answers to the dilemmas that bring them to therapy and that therapy facilitates uncovering them, promoting insight and engagement in what they find meaningful.

I enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life and am passionate about supporting underrepresented groups. I hope to learn, grow, and utilize my lived experience in providing service. I lean towards Humanistic-Existential therapy as it is client-centred and focuses on universal human experiences such as isolation, death anxiety, presence, knowing oneself, meaninglessness, etc. I am also drawn to it because of its integrative nature and cross-disciplinary, cross-sectional and cross-cultural applicability.
